Grant Thornton supports St John's Ambulance at the Lord Mayor's
Show
Grant Thornton employees braved the torrential rain on Saturday
to take part in the 793rd Lord Mayor's Show. The firm participated
in support of St John's Ambulance's latest campaign and to
congratulate the new Lord Mayor, Grant Thornton Partner Ian
Luder.
Over 50 Grant Thornton staff, friends and family took part in
the procession that weaved through 1.7 miles of streets in the
Square Mile.
St John's Ambulance are one of the chosen charities for this
year's Lord Mayor's Appeal and the float was themed around their
new campaign to provide 1000 defibrillators in the City of London
and provide companies with training and support packages.
Mark Richardson, Senior Manager in the Employer Solutions Team
at Grant Thornton said, 'It was an honour for Grant Thornton to
take part in an event so steeped in London's history. Everyone was
in good spirits despite the rain and it was fantastic to see the
crowds cheering and waving."
The float featured a giant replica of a defibrillator complete
with patients being resuscitated. St John's Ambulance Cadets pushed
stretchers donated by Grant Thornton loaded with replicas of London
landmarks that St John's Ambulance regularly attend and volunteers
also carried 7 foot high flags and red blankets.
The replicas of London landmarks, including Lords Cricket
Ground, Mansion House, the London Eye and St Pauls Cathedral will
all be donated to local schools.
"It was great to show our support for the vital work that St
John's Ambulance do around the city and to congratulate our new
Lord Mayor," Richardson concludes.
