Grant Thornton Summarises The Top Property Policies in Main
Manifestos
As election day looms, the three main
political parties have outlined their policies for the property
sector in their manifestos. Clare Hartnell, Head of Property at
Grant Thornton says: "given the hit the property sector took during
the economic downturn, what we would like to see from any political
party that comes into power is a clear commitment to helping the
sector back onto its feet and strong policies showing how this will
be achieved.
Increasing taxes on properties will not be a
good move. The market is fragile and any moves to reduce returns
after taking account of tax will not be helpful for the sector, nor
will any more administrative burdens placed upon property and
construction businesses."
