Glenn Stone appointed new head of infrastructure at Grant
Thornton US
Glenn Stone, Project Finance partner at leading
business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK LLP, has been
appointed the new Head of Infrastructure at the Grant Thornton
member firm in the US.
Based in Washington D.C. Glenn will lead on the development of
US infrastructure projects with a particular focus on
transportation and the exploration of high speed rail, to help
build on the US green agenda. Glenn will takes up his new post in
January 2010.
As a partner at Grant Thornton UK for over 10 years, Glenn
helped build the firm's presence in the infrastructure arena while
helping to grow a network of project finance expertise
globally. In his current role as Project Finance partner and Global
Head of Project Finance for Grant Thornton, Glenn has a focus on
supporting infrastructure initiatives and helping to prepare
projects for investment.
Speaking on his new role, Glenn says: "I am excited and
delighted with this new appointment and look forward to building on
my expertise in supporting on infrastructure projects. This
position comes at time where US infrastructure, which has
lacked investment over a long period, is now a priority area.
With support from the 'Re-building America' programme and funds
from the US's Government's stimulus package as part of its recovery
programme from the recession, there is a huge potential to
significantly expand and improve in this area.
"UK infrastructure may be seen as more of a mature market with a
plethora of funding project finance initiatives in place.
That in the US however, is still in its infancy and has great
potential for growth, particularly in sectors such as housing and
education where there is also a need for significant
investment."
