Grant Thornton's leading lady beats competition to win Woman of
Achievement 2009 Award
Sacha Romanovitch, Head of People and Culture and board member
at Grant Thornton has beaten six finalists to win the prestigious
Jaguar Woman of Achievement Award 2009.
The hotly contested awards formally recognise the outstanding
contribution senior and partner-level women make to the City of
London. Each year category winners are selected, with one finalist
chosen to win the overall Woman of Achievement Award. Having
scooped the Accountancy category award in October, Sacha was
awarded the Jaguar Woman of Achievement Award 2009 at the 7th
Annual Women in the City Lunch & Awards Ceremony.
Sacha Romanovitch says, "Having seen all the inspirational women
involved in Women in the City and the other award winners I feel
humbled to receive this award. I believe that creating a truly
diverse environment where anyone, no matter what their background,
race or gender, can succeed is fundamental in making the best of
all our talent. The opinions and ideas that are ignited through
listening to a variety of voices is invaluable to any firm.
“Those of us in positions of influence in business have a
responsibility to help others along their career journey. I am very
fortunate to work with a firm that took a bold decision to appoint
a woman on maternity leave to the National Leadership Board and my
award is a testimony to the support given to me by my colleagues
and by my family."
Gwen Rhys, founder and Director of Women in the City added;
"Congratulations to Sacha and well done for a much deserved honour.
The awards shine a spotlight of attention on women working at
senior levels within London, and this helps to promote women’s
careers as well as the organisations they work for, and creates an
environment for talent to flourish."
